4basebio is an innovative gene synthesis company with the ambition to provide high quality, synthetic DNA for use in gene therapies and gene vaccines. We are expanding our research and development team at our premises just outside Cambridge UK. 

We are looking for a curious, enthusiastic scientist to join our Platform Development team. Here, they will collaborate with teams across the company and contribute the development of technologies in DNA synthesis, mRNA synthesis and gene expression. This role would suit someone with previous lab work experience and is eager to apply themselves and learn new skills in a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of the Platform Development team
  • Plan and execute projects, assess problems, and troubleshoot to ensure successful and on-time project delivery
  • Work collaboratively and support the R&D functions of the Company
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings, training, and development sessions
  • Undertake any other appropriate roles and responsibilities that reasonably fall within the role holder’s skills and experience as requested
  • Keep up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments
  • Establish and maintain a detailed record of all the experiments and results generated in the lab

Person Specification:

  • MSc or equivalent experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related life science field
  • Hands-on experience working in biology or chemistry labs
  • Experience with lab techniques such as gel electrophoresis, PCR and DNA quantification
  • Experience performing DNA/RNA extraction/precipitation
  • Ability to test and troubleshoot new assays and techniques
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and critical thinking

  • Ability to analyze and interpret experimental data using R, GraphPad, or Python packages
  • Experience with DNA analytical techniques such as PAGE is desirable

We are expanding our MSAT team at our site just north of Cambridge, UK to facilitate the purification of synthetic DNA products for use in AAV, IVT mRNA processes and other therapeutic areas. We are looking for dynamic and experienced team members to help us achieve our ambitions and goals. 

The role will focus on supporting the purification of synthetic DNA products. In addition, there will be opportunity for the candidate to interact with multi-disciplinary teams within the Research department and expand their laboratory skill set.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of the MSAT team as a purification lab technician, working to support the purification of synthetic DNA products
  • Aid in the planning, execution, and delivery of purification projects to a high standard and in accordance with project plans
  • Perform the final fill and finish of synthetic DNA products
  • Work collaboratively and support the Manufacturing and R&D functions of the company
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings, training, and development sessions
  • Use, maintain and respect company equipment in accordance with the company’s SOPs and health & safety guidelines

As QA Manager you will help 4basebio to achieve and maintain compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). The role will manage a small team to ensure the Quality Management System (QMS) operates effectively, in a business striving to build quality into the every-day. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the implementation of key Quality elements in line with cGMP, taking the lead as needed
  • Take responsibility for ongoing management of the QMS as a senior member of the QA Team. For example, supplier management, internal auditing/self-inspection, stability programs, change control, deviations, investigations, corrective actions, and risk management
  • Support and host audits by customers and regulatory bodies
  • Be prepared to deliver group and individual training on QMS and cGMP topics
  • Maintain QMS documentation, keep accurate records and comply with company policies in accordance with cGMP regulations

As a Manufacturing Scientist you will be responsible for performing functions related to production and GMP manufacturing operations. This position requires great attention to detail, ability to work in a team environment and a keen interest in optimisation of processes. You will be responsible for adhering to all QMS policies and procedures, cGMPs and safety standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform all manufacturing operations including but not limited to component transfer and preparation, equipment and area preparation, media preparation, up and downstream manufacturing, and cleaning of process areas
  • Support the monitoring and maintenance of the facility and direct utilities in accordance with company & regulatory guidelines
  • Maintain QMS documentation, keep accurate records, follow instructions and comply with company policies
  • Contribute to housekeeping tasks to support manufacturing operations including cleaning, sanitisation and sterilisation of equipment and components
  • Ensure compliance with Quality policies, SOPs and Health and Safety procedures
  • Support troubleshooting activities and assist with continuous improvement initiatives
  • Undertake any other appropriate roles and responsibilities that reasonably fall within the role holder’s skills and experience as requested

Person Specification:
