He has been focussed on growth companies, with experience in operational execution as well as a range of corporate transactions. David holds a BA from the University of Hertfordshire.
Dr Angel Picher, PhD.
DNA Synthesis Platform
Ángel holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and has over 14 years’ experience in research and development of DNA and RNA amplification technologies. He has published various scientific papers and is named inventor on several patents.
Dr Amy Walker, PhD.
VP of Research and Business Development
Amy has a background in nanoparticle delivery platforms for nucleic acids and gene editing technologies. She completed her PhD at UCL Institute of Child Health with a Fellowship at University of British Columbia and McGill University, Montreal. Amy joined 4basebio in 2020 where she is now Director of Discovery.
Florent Fordoxel
Commercial
Florent has over a decade of experience in commercial and leadership roles in the life science industry and is now managing 4basebio’s business development. He holds a master’s degree in Biotechnology from the École Nationale Supérieure de Technologie des Biomolécules de Bordeaux.

Joseph Manuel Fernández
Non-Executive Director
Joseph, 63, is the founder of Active Motif which specialises in novel tools and platform technologies for genomics-driven cell biology and epigenetic pathway elucidation. Before starting Active Motif, Joseph was a co-founder of Invitrogen (now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific). Joseph holds a number of Board positions including Active Motif, Chromeon GmbH and Protein Fluidics Inc.
Tim McCarthy
Independent, Non-executive Chairman
Tim, 66, has over 35 years’ international senior level business experience in the healthcare, biotech and technology sectors. He is the Chairman of Incanthera plc and CEO of ImmuPharma plc and a former CEO and Finance Director of public and private companies, including Alizyme plc, Peptide Therapeutics Group plc. He has also co-founded a number of healthcare and biotechnology companies. Times is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and also holds an MBA from Cranfield School of Management.
Pilar de la Huerta
Independent Non-executive Director
Pilar, 54, has 20 years’ experience in the pharma and biotech industries and has held a number of CEO positions over that time. Pilar has also acted as a strategic consultant to several companies, such as Viamed Salud Group. Pilar holds a Masters Degree in Business and Administration by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
Hansjörg Plaggemars

Hansjörg, 52, is an independent consultant (Value Consult) as is appointed to a number of boards including Enapter AG, Altech Advanced Material AG, Alpha Cleantec AG, Ming Le Sports AG and Strawtec Group AG. Previously he was Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer at CoCreate Software GmbH, KAMPA AG, Unister Holding GmbH and Müller Holding Ltd. & CO. KG. He holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Bamberg.
